FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(August 25, 2010 - Overland Park, KS) Kid’s Closet Connection’s semi-annual consignment sale brings area families together to sell their children's gently used clothing and related items at economically-savvy prices. The fall sale is expected to be the largest to date, with over 500 families consigning. The sale is taking place in the Exhibit Hall at the Overland Park Convention Center which Sharon Smitka, owner of Kid’s Closet Connection, predicts will be “pushing at the seams.” The event will run Wednesday, September, 1 2010 through Friday, September 3, 2010. The sale is open to the public, and there is no charge for admission.

Consigners make 70% of the profit from the items they sell, and don’t have to work at the sale. Tagged items can be dropped off at the OPCC on Monday, August 30 from 9am to 8pm and Tuesday, August 31 from 9am to 1pm. Consigners and volunteers get to shop before the sale opens to the public. For more information and to sign up for this event, visit www.kidscloset.biz or call Sharon at (913) 488-1961.

“It is so important in today's society that we learn to recycle our resources including our outgrown children's items that are otherwise in great condition.” said Sharon Smitka, owner of Kid’s Closet Connection. “These sales have given our community a way to help the environment by making money while selling your children's outgrown items and in turn, purchase nearly new items in great condition at prices drastically less than retail.”
Kid's Closet makes a large donation of clothing and other items to Angel Babies after the sale. This charity benefits unwed teenage mothers.

OPCC sits on a 26-acre site in the heart of Overland Park, the largest suburban city in the Kansas City metropolitan area and the second largest city in Kansas. The mid-sized convention center features a 60,000 square-foot exhibition hall that connects to the 25,000 sq. ft. Edwin C. Eilert Ballroom. Additionally, the OPCC provides an additional 15,000 sq. ft. of event space and 40,000 sq. ft. of pre-function space that proudly houses a collection of selected works of art created by renowned Midwestern artists.
